About Carlos

In high school, I experienced a traumatic injury that left me in the emergency room, sparking my first interest in healthcare. I had always loved the sciences, but was especially drawn in to the humanity and empathy that characterizes the physician-patient interaction. My interests grew and became even more nuanced during the 2020 pandemic upon witnessing the flaws of the American healthcare systems play out in real time. I was motivated to pursue medicine not only as a way to connect with others, but to advocate for communities that continue to be marginalized in healthcare. I graduated from the College of William & Mary with a B.S. Social Justice in Medicine and went straight through to start my M.D. at Harvard Medical School. The med school application process feels like yesterday, and I've been helping friends and mentees work on their own applications since being accepted. I am excited to share my knowledge of completing the personal statement, primary, and secondary sections in order to help pre-meds achieve their goals.
