About Xuan

Hello! I'm Xuan ("Shwen"), an associate at L.E.K. Singapore, and your go-to coach for acing the consulting case interview process. With an undergraduate degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford, I have a deep understanding of the human element of interviewing and have developed systematic coaching methods to tackle any consulting interview with confidence. Navigating the world of consulting applications without prior professional experience can be daunting—I know because that was my journey. When I was applying to consulting in my final undergraduate year, my work experiences primarily focused on product management. Despite this, I became one of only 3 candidates nationally selected to join the L.E.K. Singapore office (out of 700+ applicants) as Associates in the 2022 application cycle. Additionally, I reached the final rounds with MBB during a highly competitive application year. Key to my success was crafting a compelling personal story for "Why consulting?", finding common ground between consulting and my previous work experiences, and convincing the interviewer that thinking like a consultant comes as second nature to me. For example, I leveraged my leadership roles as VP / Director in three consulting societies at Oxford to further refine my personal narrative. Now, I'm eager to guide others on a similar path, with a strong emphasis on breaking into consulting with limited professional experience. Beyond my professional life, I'm a self-taught coder with a dedicated website showcasing my data science projects (check it out at www.xuan-yee.com). I'm also an active volunteer and have provided free online counselling services to over 90 clients. For relaxation, I hit the gym, delve into a good book, battle it out on League of Legends, take refreshing 3-hour naps, or embark on spontaneous cross-country adventures.
