About Shannon
Hey there - I'm Shannon Li, and I'm a product designer with a primary focus on user experience design, with additional skills in adjacent design disciplines including brand and graphic design! I currently work at Nike as a Designer I based out of New York City, on their Consumer Tools team, working on enterprise tools to support brand marketing teams. I have had previous design internships at Nike, CNN, and Estée Lauder. I went to University of Michigan - Ann Arbor recently with my BS and MSI in UX research and design. Feel free to check out my portfolio as well (shannonlidesign.com). We’re all learning how to become better designers. I support in different areas including creating and refining portfolios, refining design resumes, and learning more about UX. I'm especially interested in helping design students and all types of designers (especially early career) within their path in design as well as people new & curious about UX, wanting to explore more. As an entry level designer and a recent grad, I understand the challenges with navigating design and design internships. While there is no golden rule, I can help navigate challenges and provide advice - for grad school, ux design as a field, internships, and full-time. Book some sessions with me if you see a fit! This includes my hourly sessions to chat more about your specific needs and my offered custom packages. + design resume reviews + feedback on your portfolio site + guidance in creating a portfolio + design internship & job search advice + feedback on portfolio review decks for interviews (internship and/or full-time job) + design opportunities avenues + general questions on entering into ux/product design - for those new to UX + general ux/product design - related questions + hci graduate school applications support + (potentially) overview on skills using figma / figjam + anything design related you want to chat about! Each individual live session is capped between 1-2 hours, with a current rate of $50 per hour. Feel free to book more sessions if you find our sessions helpful and beneficial for you. I understand life gets busy and others prefer offline feedback so I also offer async options especially in certain packages if that is your preferred method of feedback communication. In addition to the free flowing coaching conversations on the topics above in the hourly sessions, I have specific set packages including design resume review, portfolio feed backs, portfolio review practice, and much more that you are welcome to sign up for as well. Hopefully, more packages will be offered soon as well. If you are set to book sessions with me or a package (not needed for intro calls), message me in advance with the following so I can better understand your background and needs: + current stage (undergrad (major + year), grad (major + year), entry level designer, seasoned designer) + design discipline of interest (product/user experience design, visual design, user research, design strategy, etc.) + your specific design coaching needs (e.g. resume revamp, portfolio improvements, learn more about UX, is UX. good fit for me?, interviews, etc.) + [OPTIONAL] resume and/or portfolio Design is a truly fun and exciting area, and I hope to help other designers succeed and have fun with design along the way!
Why do I coach?
+ design is a challenging area to stand out and make your skills & talent known, and I want to help other designers grow their own brand and succeed despite the tough market + design students preparing for industry and entry level designers seeking roles in product design may need additional support in their path and I want to help them navigate as someone who's recently been in their shoes + buildings a stronger design community is rewarding!
