About Rourke
I'm a huge believer in everyone has a story! Mine can hopefully give you an idea there is no one "right" path to get into your top MBA program. I studied Electrical Engineer at the University of Michigan and I spent the majority of my time on student engineering project competitions rather than focusing on class. So much so my GPA was below the averages you'll see on MBA program website - I had a 3.16 GPA, and a 710 GMAT when I applied. I had internship experiences at Ford and Waymo before taking a job in engineering at Ford after graduation. I moved around the company and when I was in Corporate Strategy I started reconsidering when was the right time to apply to MBA programs. I devoted a massive amount of time to essays and with some great mentors and a little bit of luck I was admitted to MIT Sloan, HBS, Tuck, & Carnegie Mellon. I'm now at HBS working on a company at the intersection of Electric Vehicles & the Energy Industry! I've had a chance to work with clients across a variety of backgrounds, career trajectories, GPAs, and test scores! From current undergraduates considering a future MBA to experienced professionals wondering if it's too late to get an MBA, let's talk through what makes you unique!
Why do I coach?
Mentors and coaches have made an enormous impact on my career and MBA journey. I wouldn't have had access to the career opportunities I've had without their support. When it came to the MBA application process I couldn't have imagined all of the nuances and considerations at play. It's an intimidating process! I want to be available as a coach the way I wish I had access to and I'm hoping I can do that for you!
