About Patrick
I am an ICF certified (PCC) Executive coach who focuses in the areas of leadership, emotional intelligence, conflict coaching, and communications for high stakes conversations. As a former senior executive who came up through the ranks, I can relate to the challenges that you face, as well as the next-step growth opportunities you’re looking to achieve. Professionals who have worked with me have consistently progressed in their leadership development and achieved positions with higher responsibilities. I have completed more than 3,500 coaching sessions to over 700 different professionals ranging from individual contributors up through C-Suite level executives. Companies and industries that I have provided coaching services to range from start-ups to Fortune 5 corporations, and for government organizations including NASA, FAA, HUD, HHS, and military personnel in the US Army and US Air Force. My coaching style is empathetic, direct, and focused on practical sustainable outcomes. Previously, I served nearly 34 years with the U.S. Government, a career that spanned entry-level positions to Senior Executive Service roles. As a Senior Executive, I worked primarily with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and was responsible for the oversight of nuclear facilities in the Midwest region of the U.S. In addition to the technical aspects of this work, I developed internal coaching activities, led several organizational management retreats, performed organizational assessments, and developed leadership model guidelines and strategic workforce planning frameworks. I also pioneered internal “coach approach” techniques for first-line supervisors. I hold a Bachelor’s in Physics from Indiana State University, am a certified coach with the International Coaching Federation. I also hold certifications as a practitioner for the Pearman Personality Integrator, CINERGY conflict management model, ARSENAL stress management model, and the Emotional Intelligence EQi-2.0 assessment model. I am an avid cyclist, enjoy home coffee roasting, and am an accomplished guitarist.
Why do I coach?
I became a coach after experiencing the benefits of a coaching relationship with a senior professional when I was a new supervisor. The approach aligned well with my learning and leadership style. After experiencing the benefits, I pursued utilizing the coaching approach with my team and observed dramatic changes in team performance and morale. I continued to spear-head efforts to promote the benefits of coaching. I continue to actively coach as I enjoy helping people recognize their potential and assist them in achieving their goals in a safe, supporting, and encouraging environment.
