About Omar
With over 10 years of experience in strategy, climate change policy and negotiation, sustainable investing, operations, and entrepreneurship, I am a versatile and accomplished professional who is passionate about making a positive impact on the environment and society. I am currently a Vice President of Sustainable and Transition Solutions at BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager. Before joining BlackRock, I led the decarbonization strategy execution at Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil and gas company. I also represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at several UN organizations as a climate policy negotiator, such as UNFCCC, IPCC, and ICAO, where I honed my negotiation skills and gained insight into the complexities of climate policy. Additionally, I co-founded and chaired a growing family-owned restaurant group with multiple successful brands, demonstrating my entrepreneurial spirit and leadership abilities. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, class of 2023.

As an International Policy Analyst, I represented the Kingdom in six climate change multilateral negotiation sessions at the UNFCCC, IPCC, and ICAO. • Completed a rigorous certification on Climate Change Diplomacy provided by the United Nations Institute for Training & Research (UNITAR). • Assigned as the Lead Negotiator for a critical political agenda item in the 2019 UNFCCC Bonn Climate Change Conference. • Selected as the Arab Group's spokesperson and Lead Negotiator for the transparency framework agenda in COP25. • Prepared and presented the Kingdom's first Biennial Update Report (BUR1) in an open and live-streamed event during COP25, which contains the Kingdom's national circumstances, institutional arrangements, and national programs to combat climate change. • Prepared and presented the 2020 G20 climate and energy priorities proposal to the Minister of Energy.
