About Michael Justin
I am very proud to be a member of the Association of International Graduate Admissions Consultants (AIGAC), the most elite organization for admissions consultants. It has fewer than 200 members worldwide. I was admitted based on my track record over the years of helping clients obtain admissions to Harvard, Stanford, MIT, UPenn, Duke, Columbia, among other elite schools. . I employ a methodology I’ve developed called “The Storyline Methodology,” a name I have trademarked. It refers to my way of helping clients share their journeys via a consistent story about their lives and academic objectives including their career goals following their university educations. My methodology incorporates the training in modern Positive Psychology that I received from Dr. Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania, the founder of the field. I am proud to be a graduate of Dr. Seligman’s first Authentic Happiness masterclass, which I completed while a graduate student in Pastoral Counseling at Andover Newton Theological School, now part of Yale Divinity School. I apply Positive Psychology and Pastoral Counseling techniques in particular with clients who are deeply intimidated by the business school application process. . Previously, I was a professor of finance, having taught at Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, and most recently, the University of Maryland where I was a three time winner of the Distinguished Teaching Award. In 2011, I wrote “The Chinese Way to Wealth and Prosperity” which was published by McGraw-Hill in 2012 and honored at the American Society of Journalists and Authors’ Outstanding Book Awards in 2013. . An alumnus of Brown University and New York University, I have held academic appointments as Professorial Lecturer at Georgetown University and Practitioner Instructor at Johns Hopkins University. Most recently, I taught at the University of Maryland where I was a three time winner of the Distinguished Teaching Award and a member of the University Senate. Prior to entering the professoriate, I was an international institutional investor, earning the Chartered Financial Analyst designation along the way and subsequently becoming a multiple time grader of the CFA Level 3 exam. From 2003 to 2005, I served as the first Financial Markets Expert-in-Residence in the United States Department of Labor.
Why do I coach?
I have one and only one goal: to help my clients obtain admission to as many of their preferred schools as possible. As a former professor, I know how significant is the difference between students who want to be in the classroom and those who do not. I therefore want my clients to be among those who will treasure their time in class because they are attending schools that they love, in preparation for the pursuit of their cherished career objectives.
