About Kristie

Hi! It's nice to meet you. I'm Kristie! I'm a New York state native, who loves walking my dog with my husband, playing with my cat, hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends. My path to becoming a dentist and pursuing my career passions hasn't been typical. I started my undergraduate education at the University of Rochester, a large research university, pursuing Biomedical Engineering. Due to personal commitments and preferences, I transferred to Union College, a small liberal arts college, to pursue Biology as a pre-dental student. Being a transfer and commuter college student, I wasn't the typical dental school applicant. However, transferring isn't the only non-traditional course on my career path. At my fifth grade graduation when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I answered "College Professor". While my college and graduate school experiences led me to dental school, where I graduated as a dentist from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, I realized over the last couple of years that my genuine passion lies outside of the clinic. My true enjoyment comes from teaching, researching and supporting public health initiatives. Now, I've changed course to pursuing a career in higher education, research and public health. I currently teach part-time at two colleges teaching under-graduate and pre-health graduate students in the biomedical sciences while pursuing a Master in Public Health. I'm excited to help other students with meandering traditional or non-traditional courses find their way to their dream dental school, residency, or college. I hope that I can help you on your journey with the experience and knowledge that I have gained from mine!
