About Kevin

Hi, I’m Kevin! I’m a recent computer science graduate from UMD College Park, and my journey in tech has been as much about growth as it has been about discovery. Over the years, I’ve completed two software engineering internships - most recently at Capital One - and worked at startups, gaining hands-on experience in designing impactful solutions. Beyond technical skills, I’ve led teams, mentored peers, and explored what it means to create meaningful change through technology. But my story is more than just internships and projects. As someone who faced challenges early in my career - navigating competitive job markets, refining my skills, and overcoming setbacks - I understand how daunting breaking into the tech industry can feel. That’s why mentoring others has become such a core part of who I am. Whether it’s as a Career Peer and Teaching Fellow at CodePath or informally helping friends and peers, I’ve found fulfillment in guiding others through interview prep, career decisions, and technical learning. I enjoy coaching because I know firsthand how transformative the right guidance and encouragement can be. It’s not just about helping someone land a job - it’s about building confidence, developing a growth mindset, and finding joy in the journey. My goal is to help you feel supported and prepared as you navigate your career path, whether it’s breaking down technical concepts, sharing insights from my own experiences, or celebrating your wins along the way. Together, we can work to unlock your full potential and make your goals a reality.

Why do I coach?

Coaching is personal to me because I know how life-changing it can be to have someone in your corner. My journey into the tech world has been filled with both triumphs and challenges. Early on, I struggled to navigate the competitive landscape of internships and full-time roles. I remember feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to start until I met a mentor who changed everything. Their guidance wasn’t just about solving problems or refining my resume; it was about believing in myself when I wasn’t sure I could. Their support helped me push past obstacles I never thought I could overcome, like learning advanced algorithms, preparing for technical interviews, and even bouncing back from rejection. It showed me that success isn’t a straight line and that resilience and preparation are key. Having someone to guide me through the ups and downs was invaluable, and it’s an experience I strive to give others through coaching. I coach because I’ve been there - I’ve felt stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure of my next step. Coaching is my way of paying it forward, sharing what I’ve learned to help others reach their potential. It’s about more than landing a job; it’s about building confidence, creating opportunities, and inspiring growth. For me, coaching isn’t just about teaching - it’s about listening, understanding, and being a source of support for others. I’ve seen firsthand how transformative it can be to have a coach or mentor, and I’m passionate about helping others unlock their potential, one step at a time.
