In collaboration with Dr. Daniel Grilley, I worked on a project titled "Understanding the Secretion of a Toxic Protein". Through this apprenticeship program, I developed laboratory techniques and skills, wrote grant proposals, and was awarded grant funding through the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse (UWL) College of Science and Health, UWL Undergraduate Research and Creativity Department (URC), and American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). I had the opportunity to present my findings on the structural dynamics and secretion process of HpmA, a cytotoxic protein, at the UWL Research & Creativity Symposium in 2023 & 2024 and at the ASBMB Discover BMB Meeting in 2024.
