About JoyAngelica
After editing thousands of personal essays, resumes, secondary applications, and activities documents for hundreds of clients hoping to attend medical school, I have personally finalized client’s documents and seen them begin their schooling at all top US 25 medical schools. However, having previously worked at a larger medical school consulting firm, I didn’t like all the red tape that hindered me from fully communicating with my clients and helping them navigate the stressful process of graduate school applications. This is why I plan to now offer a more exclusive and personalized experience for my clients to consult with me on their application and ensure they make the best first impression all on paper. From college, graduate programs (general, MBA, Law, Medical), to residency programs, we will work together to make sure your application stands out from the rest. My husband is also an experienced and award-winning medical school admissions coach, which is why for medical school applicants, I am pleased to offer comprehensive packages which include physician coaching and advising.
Why do I coach?
I coach because in every aspect of life, I have been taught something before doing it. Regardless of whether the coach was ‘meant’ to teach me a lesson specific to their field of expertise, my best mentors have provided me insight on lessons outside of their assigned job description. My best coach has always been my mother, who after working as the main breadwinner in her family from the age of seven as a factory girl in Hong Kong, she has taught me how a strong work ethic, compassionate attitude, and attention to detail are markers of a memorable individual. From her collective life lessons, I believe that everyone has something to learn and something to be taught.
