About Brian
Coming of age during the civil rights movement, then attending college as anti-Vietnam war protests grew from whispers to claim a national voice, it is not surprising that change took root in Brian Gorman early and has never let go. For decades, he has been engaged with change at the individual, organizational, and social levels. Today, Brian works as a certified professional coach. He serves those who are seeking to strengthen their leadership in today’s disrupted business environment, working with leaders from the frontline to the C-suite. Brian addresses the leader’s role in change in his articles for Forbes Coaches Council. In December 2020 he presented at TEDx Hartford on his journey through change beginning as a freshman at Syracuse University, continuing through his own coming out, taking in and adopting a homeless gay teen, and more. His chapter, “The Hero and the Sherpa,” is the lead chapter of Springer Publishing’s Personal, Educational, and Organizational Transformation: Leading During Times of Metacrisis. He is also the host of the podcast Qonversations, offering insights into successfully leading in today's highly disrupted business environment. Brian is an International Coach Federation (ICF) certified professional coach, a member of ICF-New York City, and of the Gay Coaches Alliance. He and his son Brandon live in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Why do I coach?
When I reached one of those seminal birthdays, I decided it was time to start paying it forward in a very intentional way. Coaching allows me to do that. It also allows me to continue to learn and grow. I have been working with my own coach since 2007. Whether it be accountability, "cheerleading," bearing witness, or being a guide at pivotal moments, Michael has been there for me. I am grateful for the opportunity to be there for others.
Work Experience
Leadership Coach
TransformingLives.Coach
March 2006 - Present
We are in an unprecedented time. The workplace, the workforce, and the relationship between the two have experienced a dramatic shift with the impact of Covid, the Great Resignation, and AI. While it may seem to have quieted down today, the next major disruptor is just around the corner. Leadership, from the front line to the C-suite, is challenged to adopt to these changes. As one client recently said, "Positional authority should be our last line of defense." As a coach, I work with leaders at all levels of organizational life to change their own approach to leadership, re-define the dynamics of their teams, and even drive a totally new organizational culture. As a podcast host, I have interviewed hundreds of thought leaders on everything from intergenerational conflict in the workplace to being visionary. I work with leaders and HR professionals in the development of group and team coaching programs to build the leadership skills needed for success.
