About Anne
The consistent theme in my life is communicating, especially writing. Whether as a student working in the public relations office of the University of Southern California, as a public affairs specialist in the "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band or as an officer in the U.S. Air Force (in several disciplines), I found a way to share my love for writing that helped set me apart from my accomplished and technically proficient peers. When I retired from the Air Force, I was able to leverage my communications experience into speechwriting positions as a professional staff member on the Armed Services Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and, later, Chevron Corporation. At Chevron, I expanded my communications portfolio by coaching senior executives, specifically related to how communications are essential to leadership, producing executive videos that would help create or sustain their own "brand," as well as producing executive events. I was privileged to supervise my own team of communicators, where I learned that listening intently and asking the right questions often helped lead to sound solutions. I often drew upon my life experiences working in large organizations to guild my own career -- and to coach others. I'd like to help you become a better communicator or more easily navigate your working world.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I love to collaborate with people who are willing to invest time and effort into improving their skills in communicating and navigating their professional environment. Throughout my career, I've learned that, whether you're leading a large organization or just starting your career, being able to clearly and enthusiastically articulate an idea is so important to bringing people along with you to reach your goals. I've benefited from many different mentors and coaches myself -- sometimes we all need the benefit of an objective perspective, not only to see where we can improve, but where we excel! Helping people tap into their own special talents and experiences is hugely rewarding.
