During my final year of being a BYU student, I was responsible for the mentoring program as part of the Management Consulting Association. The mentoring program touched over 100 students eager to break into consulting. We provided students with both student mentors who had experience in consulting and resources to connect with their peers. As part of my role in this program, I gave dozens of practice cases and took dozens of coaching calls. I love talking to people about a subject that I am deeply interested in. I even became good friends with someone who was helping me with the mentorship program. He became very interested in working for Bain, so I helped coach and mentor him throughout the year, and now he is one of my incoming classmates in Bain Texas. This summer I interned for Bain & Co. I joined BYU's recruiting team and got an inside look into how the application process works. Additionally, during my internship, my eyes were opened to the why behind the tips and advice my mentors had given me as I was preparing for interviews. My experience mentoring students preparing for management consulting recruiting along with how recently I went through the process, uniquely sets me up to be an effective coach.
