About Alison

Hi, thank you for taking a moment to learn more about me. After studying business and information systems at University of Virginia, I started my career as a Peace Corps Community Economic Development Advisor in Kenya helping women identify income-generating opportunities to help create economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. Having only been out of the US for a day trip to Canada before my post in Africa, it was a life changing experience in two significant ways that have impacted every personal and professional choice I've made over the past 20 years. First, it made me realize how much joy I get from helping others and, second, it made me realize how much I loved living and working in other countries. Since Peace Corps I have lived, worked or volunteered in almost 40 countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia and can passably speak Spanish and very rusty French and Italian (the Swahili has sadly left me aside from a handful of words). On the helping others front, I've made a few key pivots throughout my career to make sure I'm always following my true north and one of those was to join Leland to help anyone who is at a challenging strategic career decision point. If you're looking for career guidance, thinking of making a change to something new, trying to re-enter the workforce after a break (of your choosing or not), trying to land your first internship or job, or just trying to figure out undergraduate/graduate school options then please reach out.
