I am currently a practicing orthodontist. My plans always involved me applying to dental school after taking a year off after I graduated from my undergrad. However, a mentor of mine convinced me to apply to dental school last minute. I spent 2 months studying for the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) and I applied to 4 dental schools in California. I received two interviews to the University of Southern California and the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific. I was accepted into both programs and I went with UOP. I graduated in 3 years and applied to ortho residency after taking a year off practicing as a general dentist. I applied to 10 ortho residencies and interviewed at 4 programs, one of which being Harvard. I matched with UOP for ortho residency but also got into UNLV ortho residency, which was a non-match program. As an ortho resident, I was in on parts of the application process and interviews so I learned what makes an applicant stand out. I can help in any part of the application process but I really enjoy helping people prepare for the interview process and making you feel comfortable during the process.
