Alex’s Career Development Qualifications
Experience level: Manager
Open to working with clients outside the U.S.
Throughout my whole childhood I thought I was going to be a doctor, going so far as to study Neuroscience and complete the pre-med track at Colgate. After 6 months in what was supposed to be a gap year as a Life Sciences Consultant, I realized that not only did my skills better align with the business side of healthcare, but that I could still make an impact on patients without being a practicing clinician. From there, I worked in Corporate Development & Strategy as well as Portfolio Planning in Biotech before getting my MBA / MPH at Berkeley Haas. Where I completed internships at both Pfizer (Marketing Rotational Program) and UCLA Health (Healthcare Administration in Operations) before returning to Pfizer for the full time MBA Marketing Rotational Program. At Haas I led the careers team for the Haas Healthcare Association, where I put on multiple networking events with companies across the healthcare ecosystem and helped coach many of my MBA and MPH peers on the full time or internship roles they might be interested in, how to break into healthcare consulting, health tech, biotech / pharma, and many other roles throughout healthcare. I also was a storytelling and public speaking coach and bring those skills to interview prep and career development planning as well.

About Alex
Alex graduated from Colgate University, where he was pre-med and studied Behavioral Neuroscience. After what was supposed to be a gap year before med school turned into 3 years in management consulting and 2 years in Corporate Development & Strategy at Foundation Medicine, he applied to business school and attended Berkeley Haas as a dual degree MBA/MPH. While at Haas he led the Careers team for the Haas Healthcare Association, the Social team for Q@Haas (our LGBTQ+ affinity group) and spent time as a Storytelling and Presentation Coach. He joined Pfizer's MBA Marketing Rotational Program upon graduation. Alex's specialty is helping candidates tell their stories and frame their applications in memorable, differentiated, and most importantly, authentic ways. He has coached 25+ people throughout his time at Haas and his coaching experience ranges from MBA admissions to interview prep to best man / maid of honor speech writing and delivery. He is particularly passionate about helping queer and other underrepresented applicants craft their applications.
Why do I coach?
Coaching is an incredible opportunity to build a genuine connection with people while helping them achieve their goals. Getting to know someone on a deep level and seeing them realize new things about themselves through the coaching process is incredibly rewarding.
